⭐Welcome to Lineadeluz’s Universe! ⭐
For Lineadeluz, creativity is a form of dissent. They believe that art is a method that builds intuition and confidence, aligning people with the abundant realities of the present. A polydisciplinary performance artist, they are interested in the choreographies of everyday life as sites of ritualized power. Dressing and adorning oneself, taking a selfie, re-mixing languages, utilizing technology, are all interplays of liminality in the service of be-coming. Their art-as-platform centers on the pedagogical possibilities of non-linear learning through the body.
Lineadeluz’s works take on the format they desire with no set borders or boundaries. At times paintings, other times as sculptures, you can find a mix of materials such as wire, glitter, rubber, textiles, makeup, resin and toys, to name a few. Whether physically present or digitally accessed, their work becomes a frenzy of mixed-media maximalism. Lineadeluz thinks of their creations as performative portals, time-based objects that harbor dreams, visions, spells that generate undeniable presence. Portals that speak to the juicy, messy, intersecting complexities of contemporary embodiment.
Lineadeluz is a genderqueer, first-gen, Latinx in the United States raised in Compton, CA in a Mexican immigrant household. They graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double degree in Sociology and Visual Arts. Over the course of 10 years of living in Mexico City they have developed a breadth of experiences, documentation and reflections on the liminality of being bicultural, bilingual and binacional which greatly informs their practices as an artist, educator and activist. They currently work between United States and Mexico.
